Allbäck Purified Boiled Linseed Oil
Allbäck has produced this premium purified linseed oil for use as a wood finish. Applied to clean dry wood, this all-natural boiled oil will soak in and "polymerize" or dry in the surface of the wood to produce a stain and water-resistant finish. Ideally it should be applied in multiple coats until the wood does not soak up any more oil, then the residual oil should be wiped off with a rag before leaving overnight. For better penetration especially high traffic areas that are receiving many coats, it is advisable to thin the first coat or two with a non-toxic citrus solvent. Gum turpentine is an acceptable solvent for outdoor areas.
Surface may be used gently after 24 hours, but a full cure may take a couple of weeks or longer depending on humidity and temperature.
WARNING!!! Rags soaked in linseed oil have been known to spontaneously ignite because of heat produced during the cure. Soak rags in water before disposing of them, or spread outdoors on a non-combustible surface.
